St. Charles Mothers Club Thanks the CCC:
Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a nice holiday season! I want to pass along a message that Annette received from the St. Charles Mothers Club in regards to the gifts that our club donated at our annual club Christmas party.
"Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! You all were so generous. These families are really going to have a good Christmas. Thank you so much for organizing the gift collection. Everything was so nicely organized - and almost all the gifts were already wrapped! What a pleasant surprise. You did a great job, and our club really appreciates it. I hope we can partner again next year to help make a difference for a few families during the holidays. Take care and have a very Merry Christmas!!
Sincerely,
Kandi"
Thank you again to everyone who donated a gift. This is a wonderful thing that our club does and I hope that we can continue to do it year after year!
Don't forget we have a January meeting scheduled for January 18th. Same place as always, Omega Restaurant in Warrenville on RT. 59.

A Note from the incoming President:
I want to officially thank all those who volunteered and served as officers and directors for 2011. Additionally, I want to congratulate all the new officers who will be serving in 2012. The success of a club is dependent upon the members volunteering their time, talent and skills for good of the club. I'm currently working on putting together a staff of directors and other volunteers who are willing to serve in 2012. If you are interested in serving the club as a director or wish to volunteer your services please contact me at 630-208-8372. I will be presenting the new 2012 staff at the January club meeting.

Don't miss our November meeting as we will be auctioning off the CCC banner that was hanging at the NationalCorvette Museum the past year. This historical banner has been signed by many well known staff members from the museum, GM plant, as well as, some GM engineers. This should be a very exciting and interesting auction. As a side note; there will be a reserve amount for this item.
I have been informed; the MWR is going to give us 10 numbers for the upcoming year for the club to use for events. Last year we used 6 of our 7 numbers to assist other clubs with autocross racing events. The reason this is important is because it brings in revenue, for 2011 we received $600.00. Unfortunately, we had set one number aside for the concourse show, which we were unable to use. By having 10 numbers to use in 2012, means we potentially could earn $1,000.00 in revenue for hosting or assisting in various events. Additionally, the West Chicago Blooming Fest offers another $200.00 provided we participate equally or better than we did this year.
As a reminder, don't forget membership dues are due to Dennis by November 1, 2011 a $10.00 late fee will be added after this date.
Finally, Dennis is currently collecting for the annual Christmas party. If you are planning on attending cost is $25.00 per person and needs to be paid by November 30, 2011.

A Message from the President:
Hello Club Members:
It's now the middle of July and it's been quite a year with so many various events going on. Our club
has been busy, from Drive outs to Convention to Auto Cross to Bloomington Gold, what variety and fun.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all of you who volunteered to help. By working
together we were able to make these events successful and enjoyable for all. Specifically, Wednesday
night at the MWR 2011 Convention, we had better than 25% of our total membership helping with this
event. It was so nice to see all the Orange worker shirts and club members wearing their name tags.
These efforts did not go unnoticed either, as I have been told by more than one of the MWR and NCCC
officers about how much they appreciated our assistance.
Our Country Western night was a big hit for the convention. We filled the dance floor. Additionally,
Ken's photo booth was a giant hit with everyone. It was truly one of the talks of the convention. A special
thanks to Mark for helping Ken do such a great job of making the booth so successful. Thanks to Patti
and Don for their incredible decorations at the event and to the team for all they did in setting up and
taking down. Well done!
We also participated in many parades. In addition to St Patrick's Day, our newest parade, hosted by Bob
and Betty Dohe, was the Lombard Lilac Parade. Lastly we had two 4th of July parades (Wheaton and
Glen Ellyn). Thank you to all who participated especially to those who brought their cars out and braved
the elements. The parades continue to be a big part of our club and help us to be known around each
town.
Then we come to Bloomington Gold 2011, which unfortunately fell right in the middle of the convention.
Thanks to Bill Sullivan for again helping to get our tickets this year. Our Friday night Goldie's Party went
well and thankfully without rain. The Colonial cafe was very happy with the turn out. In case you missed it,
we again had decorated the window in downtown St Charles. Both Sherri Davis and Don did a great job
at making that window stand out. Great Job Everyone.
There is still a lot do the second half of the year. We are currently planning a great Drive out to Galena
next month Aug 5th-7th. The Geneva Concourse show is Aug 28th. I would also like to mention 100
years of Louis Chevrolet racing, Elkhart Lake, WI, Aug 18-21st, and Hooked on Driving (Aug 22nd) with
one of our own members (Richard Anderson) instructing.
Keep checking the club calendar along with the e-mail notices to find out about the latest events. Or feel
free to Email Patti @ tripletmom92@yahoo.com and let her know to add something to the calendar. Just
remember to please provide the details about Who, What, When, and Where so that we have complete
details on the event.

A Message from the President:
Welcome to 2011! As we get closer to the first day of spring we have been busy preparing another great year for the Chicago Corvette Club and have with all kinds of exciting events planned. Sunday (2/20) kicked off our first club outing. It was hosted by our VP Annette. While the weather was rainy, we had such a fun time at the St Charles Town mall indoor mini golf. We will be hearing from one of our club members shortly about the event but I would be amiss if I did not say thank you to our club Photographer Ken Voegele. His creativity boosted the atmosphere of fun beyond measure, if you don't believe me wait until you see the pictures! We topped off the afternoon with a quick dinner at Rookies.
Be sure to keep watch for more information regarding the National Corvette Convention which will be held in Tinley Park. There is something for everyone and for many of us it is a once in a life time event as it is conveniently located right here in Illinois. We continue to look for more club members to help out either at the convention or at the Country Western Party our club will be hosting on Wednesday night of the convention. Please keep in mind that you can pick and choose what day or days you want to attend.
Another special event you will not want to miss is our first Geneva Concours D'Elegance which will be held this August 28, 2011. This is a first for the MWR and NCCC to be a part of an event such as this and I'm excited our Club had a hand in making this happen.
We added a new parade this year with the help of Bob and Betty Dohe. It's the Lilac Parade in the town of Lombard IL. This event is the week before the Blooming Fest show. So watch for more information on this very special parade and Blooming Fest.
Please keep watch of the club calendar for all the upcoming events and details. If you would like to help at any of the events just let me or any of the board members know.

Miniature Golf Outing:
About 26 CCC members came out on a rainy Sunday, Feb. 20, to play miniature golf at Charlestowne Mall.
There were no casualties! Everybody finished the 18 holes with smiles. Ken Voegele's photos are proof of
a good time. We had more laughing going on than the party in the adjoining party room.
The group ended up at Rookies for food and more camaraderie.
Annette Wilhusen is to be thanked for planning this event. All who attended will no doubt hope for the same event next year. Good job Annette!!

Congratulations to John & Linda Pederson and Jerry Schaus!
Two of our club members entered their Corvettes in the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show that was held on 11/20 & 11/21 in Rosemont. John & Linda Pederson entered their Black 1969. Jerry entered his Monterey Red 2006. Both cars took home the Gold award in the Street Stock/Modified Class. Pictures of their cars are in the picture section of our website.
A Message from the President:
Welcome to the Holiday Season! As members of the Chicago Corvette Club we
had a great year with many opportunities to enjoy our corvettes and each other.
We have a lot to look forward to as we move in to our 53rd year as a club. This
year promises to be one of our biggest years yet as a club. One event in particular
really stands out and that is we are going to our first convention as a club. This is
a wonderful event in which we will be able to share with all the clubs in our MWR.
Over 25 clubs will be coming together to put this on for the rest of the NCCC!
There will be Corvettes and Clubs coming for all over to compete and enjoy the
various events with us and are fellow MWR club members. The Convention truly
offers something for everyone, please mark your calendars now (June 18 – 24, 2011,
Tinley Park, IL). You won't want to miss it so makes plans to come out for a day, a
few days or the whole week depending on your schedule.
Next week is our Annual Christmas Party and will be our last official event for
2010. I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for a wonderful year as
a club. I'm excited for 2011 and all that it will offer us as we continue to build
friendships and bond over our love of the Corvette. By the way, if you haven't yet
signed up for next weeks Christmas party it's not too late. Start the season right
by sharing with your fellow club members some festive cheer. See details below:
When - Sun, December 5, 11am – 1pm
Where - Villa Olivia 1401 W Lake St Bartlett, IL 60103-1544
Details - Cost is $25 per person, $50 per couple.
Mail checks by
December 2, to Dennis Cipcich or bring them to the Party. Checks should be made
out to the Chicago Corvette Club.
This past weekend we participated in the Festival of Lights Holiday Parades
for both Wheaton and St Charles. While it was a bit cold, both parades were very
successful. I especially want to thank those that came out to be a part of it as we
couldn't have done it without you. I would like to offer a challenge to those of you
who have never participated in a parade with us to consider trying one next year.
As a club, we always have a great time displaying our cars and as well as, enjoying
each other's company. Although I will say the true enjoyment comes from seeing
the kid's faces as you drive down the street waving and honking at them.
I wish you all a very safe and joyous holiday season as you spend time with family
and friends. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
John P Baldo
Christmas Party 2010
A big THANK YOU goes out to Dennis Cipcich for organizing this years Christmas Party. We had a wonderful brunch on December 5th at Villa Olivia. Approximately 50 CCC members attended. Annette Wilhusen organized a toy collection for the St. Charles Mothers Club; Thank You Annette. Thank you to all the members who donated a new toy. You helped to make a childs Christmas extra special!
Annette Gage won the guessing game that John Baldo put together. John had $40.68 in 2 car tins. We had to guess the amount of money in the tins. Annette's guess was $39.25! Congratulations Annette. Spend it wisely!
We hope you all have a wonderful and safe Holiday Season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Just a reminder: There is no meeting in January. The next meeting will be February 16th. See you in 2011!
Annual trip to bowling Green
For several years Bob "O-Bob" Schwarz has organized a trip to Bowling Green, KY for a special tour of the Corvette Assembly Plant and the National Corvette Museum. This year the trip took place Nov.7-9. Ten members of the Chicago Corvette Club met at the home of John and Linda Pederson Sunday morning and began the journey. A stop was made at the Indianapolis Speedway Museum where I met up with the group in my Corvette. After a tour of the museum and a lunch stop at Hardies, we were on our way to Bowling Green, Home of the Corvette. We arrived at our hotel around 6:00 pm. Roc Linkov, Events Manager at the museum met us for dinner Sunday night. The next morning we were off to the assembly plant for a private tour, lead by Sonny Kilgo a plant retiree, (thanks to O-Bob for organizing this). This was my first time seeing the plant. I was in awe of all the Corvettes. I had the pleasure of being able to be the first person to start a Torch Red 2011 Corvette coming off the assembly line. How excited was I! I was given a certificate stating that I helped "give birth" to a new Corvette. Unfortunately cameras and cell phones are not allowed in the plant, so I did not get a picture of this momentous occasion but it will live on with me forever. I think only a true Corvette fan can appreciate this experience. After the tour of the assembly plant which lasted about 4 hours, and worth every second of it, we were off to the museum. Roc Linkov gave us a private tour of the museum (thanks to Rich Anderson for organizing this). Roc is a wealth of knowledge about the Corvette and the museum. I've been to the museum several times, but this time was so much more special; Thank you Roc. Unfortunately I had to head back home on Monday as I had to work Tuesday. The rest of the club members stayed and had dinner with Sonny and his wife Monday night. Another tour of the plant was taken Tuesday morning (can't get enough!) and then all were on their way home to Chicago. This was truly a very special trip for me and I hope that more club members will join us next year!
SAVE THE WAVE!
